Take this free, 15-minute course for an overview of the proven Gero-Ed Center approach to preparing all social work students to meet the challenges of our aging society. You will review key demographic indicators, the role of social work in meeting the needs of older adults, and curricular and organizational strategies to prepare students to meet these needs. This 3-hour course presents a process of planned curricular and organizational change developed by the Gero-Ed Center to prepare gerontologically-competent practitioners. When you complete this course, you will know how to embed gerontological competencies into your foundation curriculum to ensure that all your graduates are prepared to work with older adults. This course goes beyond revising your syllabi: through concise, interactive methods, it provides key concepts—goals, outcome measures, action steps, strategies for engaging stakeholders—for instituting feasible, sustainable changes by intersecting aging with content on other populations and substantive areas.
